Cross Stitch

Oh my nearly a month has passed since I posted to this blog and I am shocked. I have been a bit sapped of my creative mojo since I had Covid and now Long Covid. But, this month things have started to get better. I have been able to read patterns, play with design in quilts and long arm, plus I have had some creative inspiration happen for Christmas makes. I have been quilting see my blog My Creative Corner3 and started a quilt along. I have fallen down the rabbit hole with Fat Quarter Shop YouTube and Fat Quarter Shop’s FlossTube channel as well. Loads of inspiration!

First, I have been stitching this Thanksgiving inspired cross stitch as pictured above. I debated how I wanted to fully finish it but I felt that it would make a cute little pillow. I rummaged through my fabric stash and found the perfect fall print for the border and back. I am going to Michael’s today to find a pillow form as well as a cute trim like chenille to put around the edge of the pillow for an added bit of wow factor.

Can I get a drum roll please? I fully finished my stitch along and then framed it!! I used foam core to glue the red fabric down. I then used foam core to glue the stitch too with a little hand sewing and I added a trim cord around the frame edge. I used hot glue and fabric glue for the job. It was a challenge as I had never done this before. I will do it again and I think tiny trims add so much so I may look for a trim to put around the stitch for a future framed piece. We don’t have a craft store where I live so I make trips often to find finishing items and that makes for a great adventure. This stitch pattern is by Lori Holt and I stitched along with Fat Quarter Shop.

This is my current Stitch which is also a Lori Holt pattern. Kimberly Jolly of Fat Quarter Shop stitched it in these Christmas colors, so I am using the same colors as her. I love it and I am making good progress. I want to challenge myself and make this into a drum. You can you drums as a pin cushion if you like. I really am excited to try this finish out. Here is an example of a cross stitch drum for inspiration:

I am going to start making some crafty items for Christmas gifts and I will post them as I finish them. I am going to dust off my Cricut and cut some vinyl and possibly other materials. I believe I am getting stronger and more able to make items to blog about.

Have a crafty day, life a creative life!
